This painting was done for "Conan: Shadow of the Sorcerer" by Modiphius Entertainment. I wanted the overall feeling to be a foreboding silence and a poisonous air.

The finished painting!
A couple of the prelim pencil sketches that led to the digital piece.
My initial sketches made the shrine look small, so I lowered the POV so that the shrine was more imposing.
Adding color!
After approval, I began working from the front to the back, refining various elements.
Here I reduced the amount of visual noise around the image. The shrine needed to feel more prominent.
Added a fang-like stone monolith behind the shrine and added a poisonous fog crawling along the ground. Also reintroduced the shafts of light from the color comp.
